It has been 2 weeks since I started working as a Pegawai
Farmasi Provisional (PRP) at Hospital Sultanah Aminah (HSA), Johor Bahru… Life
has been pretty hectic ever since…
It started on the 2nd of August 2011 (because 1st
August coincided with 1 Ramadhan, a public holiday in Johor) at the Wisma
Persekutuan JB.
Here, we (8 of us from UIAM) were asked to lapor diri at the Jabatan Kesihatan Negeri Johor.

The process here takes just about 10 minutes, we were just
asked to fill in a few forms and submit a few photocopied items. Here, I
accidentally ran into Ain Yasin and Rose (my schoolmates). Both were there to
lapor diri as housements.
Then we got going to Menara MSC Cyberport (a.k.a Menara
Sarawak) to the Bahagian Farmasi Negeri Johor to know our penempatan.
At first,
I kinda hated the idea of having to lapor diri at 2 places (why not just 1 kan?),
but after much thought, I think that at least this is the kind of autonomy that
we should be proud of as pharmacists, our penempatan is not decided by the
Jabatan Kesihatan Negeri, but by our very own Bahagian Farmasi.
Neway, we were told to wait for all 8 of us to arrive before
proceeding to the agenda. Miss Melissa Hong, the pharmacist in charge of PRP at
Bahagian Farmasi listed out all the choices available for us, 5 posts at HSA, 2
posts at Hospital Segamat, and 1 post at Hospital Batu Pahat. We were asked to discuss and choose ourselves, but if fail to reach any agreement, it will be decided by drawing lots.
Azlen chose Hosp Batu Pahat, Farah Hani and Mariam – Hosp Segamat,
Fatimah – HSA… So that left us 4 guys (me, topek, matto and gigi) with HSA… It was not where we expected to be posted but at least we got stuck together, takde la sorang-sorang nak cari rumah etc kan...
We were given letters addressed to our respective Pengarah
Hospital and were asked to lapor diri at the hospitals as soon as possible
(because gaji start kira dari hari lapor diri di hospital).

At HSA, we were directed to Puan Zainon, a staff at the office
of Pengarah Hospital. Then it was time to fill in lots and lots of paperwork.
Around 3pm, we (5 of us) made our way to lapor diri at Ketua
Jabatan Farmasi HSA (a.k.a Ketua Pegawai Farmasi). We talked for a while and
then we were passed on to another pharmacist to go to DIS unit.
There, we met, Puan Zarina (also the head of DIS), the one
in charge of new PRPs. We were given a tour around all the different units in
pharmacy department, followed by an orientation about holidays, work etc (I
almost dozed off in exhaustion during this part).
Before we punched out
for the day, we were assigned our first placement. Topek and me were assigned to
In-patient (ward supply) pharmacy, Matto and gigi were assigned to Out-patient
pharmacy while Fatimah was assigned to DIS unit.
For the next 4 weeks, we would
be expected to work our asses off in these units and then move on to other
units to complete our rotation.
By the time we punched out, it was already 5.30pm. Exhausted,
and still homeless, we decided to squat at Azwadi’s (our senior) house near
Hospital Sultan Ismail (which is quite far from HSA). That wraps up my lapor
diri day.

Mesti korang pening baca kena lapor diri kat banyak tempat
(5 places) sebelum mula kerja, ya memang penat dan memeningkan. Hehe.

oh lapor diri kt melaka satu tmpt je kt mitc tu je..pas2 g hosp. melaka,die bg borang suruh settlekn kt rumah..boleh blk awal utk settlekn hal2 penyata bank,kwsp etc..first day la paling x penat.hehehe ;)yg sedihnye sbb sorang2 je buat semua benda termasuk la pg bazar and bukak puasa T_T

neway, study baik2, especially counselling device, xde org nak ajar balik nanti, dia terus suruh buat sendiri je nanti... hehe

Ain> Bangunan ni nama lama dia Menara Sarawak Entreprise/ or Menara Sarawak... Rasanya nama baru dia Menara MSC Cyberport, tapi semua orang kat JKN Johor n hosp memang refer as "Menara Sarawak" je...
Tak tahu la nape dulu2 diberi nama camni... maybe syarikat yang own bangunan tu asal dr sarawak kut... hehe...

Hi, i graduated this year and am posted to Johor. I jz wanna ask a qn..can we negotiate a delay to start working after we lapor diri at JKN/Bhg Farmasi? So that we can have time to look for accommodation.
